Colours 1, 2, 3, 4
These pieces were created for The Complete Works final showcase in October 2014. I specifically created them for the event and they were given to all the guests at the Purcell Room. I am very interested in ephemera and wanted to commemorate that very specific audience and combination of poets, which will (probably) never happen again. Although I read four poems at the event, the postcards were less about a literal engagement with the poems I'd written and more about a commemoration of the reading itself, which - as most poetry readings are - was a massive meeting of people with intertwined histories and connections. On that front, I was riffing off the Poetry Review cover I'd made a few years earlier, commissioned by both Karen McCarthy Woolf, who edited the anthology for our cohort, and Bernardine Evaristo, who founded The Complete Works programme. The postcards are a conscious nod to those connections.
